FAQs

Are your images digital or painted?

Both! Currently, I sketch in my notebook and then open the image in Photoshop where I "paint" my color. Recently, I've been trying to explore watercolor painting on my sketches vs. digital application.

What are your favorite art tools/supplies?

Right now my favorite tools are Adobe Photoshop, Sakura Pigma Micron pens, Sakura Koi water brush, Winsor & Newtown travel watercolor set (a vintage set, might I add), Prismacolor NuPastel color sticks. Oh, and a really old blowdryer - not kidding!

Where do you find inspiration?

In all kinds of random places! I do a lot of daydreaming on inspirational blogs that seem to touch my personal style, interests or thoughts. Some of my favorites right now are Bldg 25 Blog, Darling magazine, and Kinfolk magazine. I also subscribe to a LOT of email newsletters that have great imagery along with clothing magazines that have wonderful print pieces. And last but not least, Pinterest and Instagrm both keep me thoroughly inspired day to day.

Will you do tutorials?

Yes! I'd like to set aside some time to create a mini tutorial on some of the techniques and brushes I use in Photoshop. A future project, maybe...

Did you attend an art academy?

I completed my degree at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, majoring in Fine Arts focused in Graphic Design. But in all honesty, I think the bulk of my "fine art" techniques were learned from some amazing people at the local community college. We had an amazing art program there with some of the most inspiring teachers!

How do you find time to sketch?

This is a tricky one! Working full-time and coming home to a toddler in the evenings, while juggling all the day-to-day family tasks makes it challenging to set aside time. This is why I cherish my lunch breaks; it's amazing what you can do with even just 30 mins of time. You work smarter and more intuitively with short amounts of precious time.

Do you sell your artwork?

This has been on my radar for sometime, and I'm currently in the process of gathering pieces, brainstorming and putting a plan in motion.
